Dubai–Fujairah Freeway is a new four-lane from the city of Dubai, on the Persian Gulf, to the town and harbour of Fujairah. Freeway passes through the rugged Hajar Mountains, which are very steep with only sparse vegetation and hardly any topsoil. Ground is rocky and gravelly and area is very dry.
